Fairing, Chaulking & Painting The Hull

Chalk and a flexible batten reveal the high spots.
At the beginning a plane brings down the edges. After that  belt sander, disk grinder and a long board are used to smooth the hull.

With a number 0 chaulking iron and a mallet three or four strands of cotton are driven in all planking seams.

Almost done. The stern seams are last.

After painting the seams with red-lead they are filled with sealant...
